I fully agree that we should not be in the business of subsidizing the pro teams that represent us - their sponsors can more than afford all expenses.  Perhaps we should have a standby fund to support a non-pro team, if and when such a team wins.
I am forwarding your letter to our unit so that they can have a better understanding of the situation.  Actually, we have already taken the position that we do not run any more international fund raisers than we have to.
